Parents, our Lost and Found is overflowing with coats and jackets! With the colder weather here and winter break approaching, we want to make sure every student has what they need to stay warm.

Please take a moment to check the Lost and Found located in the cafeteria over the next few weeks. You might spot something that belongs to your child!

Insurance is just $26 for the entire school year and is strongly encouraged—most Chromebook repairs cost much more than the insurance itself!

This past Tuesday, our school had the privilege of taking part in ViPS Jane Mendel Reading Day, and our hallways were filled with the joy and energy of volunteers reading to every classroom. It was truly a special day for our students.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all the community members who generously shared their time, stories, and love of reading with us. Your enthusiasm lit up our classrooms and created moments of connection that our students will remember. Experiences like these not only nurture a love of books, but also show our children how deeply their community cares about their learning and growth.

Thank you for investing in our students and helping make this event so meaningful. We are grateful for your kindness, your dedication, and the smiles you brought to our school. We look forward to welcoming you back for future opportunities to inspire and support our learners.

Our Kindergarten students have kicked off their farm unit in Wit and Wisdom! Last week in the Library, we explored the fall harvest and learned all about important crops like corn and wheat — and even discovered some of the everyday products made from them!

We also talked about the big machinery farmers use, like the combine, and how it helps harvest those large fields. A big thank-you to Economics Arkansas for the fantastic resource — our kindergarteners loved reading “It’s Corn Picking Time!”

We had some very special visitors in the library today — Mr. Mickey and Ms. Barb from the zoo! They stopped by to help us celebrate Mrs. Jeffries’ 4th grade class, who turned in the most reading logs after our summer break!

The students were all smiles as they learned about animals, asked great questions, and met some amazing zoo friends — including Buzz, a Chilean tarantula , Hagrid, a curious ferret, and Mojave, a beautiful rosy boa !

Thank you, Mr. Mickey and Ms. Barb, for bringing the excitement (and a few wild surprises!) to our library! We’re so proud of Mrs. Jeffries’ class for showing that reading doesn’t stop when school’s out — it’s an adventure that lasts all year long!

We are so proud of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students who have taken the initiative to apply for leadership roles in our school library as part of their Leader in Me journey! 👏

These incredible students have volunteered their own time to train and take on responsibilities—helping check in books, organizing shelves, assisting Mrs. Miller and their peers, and contributing to the welcoming atmosphere of our library space.

By stepping up and taking ownership, they are demonstrating key Leader in Me habits such as:
✅ Being Proactive
✅ Putting First Things First
✅ Synergizing

Their dedication and teamwork are inspiring, and they are truly making a difference in our school community. Way to go, young leaders! 💪📖🌟

On Monday, one of our wonderful student leaders was invited to the Superintendent Citation Program to be recognized for his hard work and dedication to our summer reading program. Not only did he read this summer and return his reading log at the start of school, he crushed the reading log and did not miss one day of reading while we were out for the summer! Philip, we are so proud of you and all your hard work! Way to challenge yourself to become a better reader! #readingintherock #summerreadingprogram #lrsd

Check out our amazing readers!! This summer, all of our students were challenged to fill out a summer reading log and return it to school when they came back in August. The amazing student leaders who took advantage of this cool challenge all won a variety of prizes and had their name entered into a drawing through the district! One of our students had his name pulled last week and he won this amazing bike!! Check it out, and be on the lookout for more challenges and reading logs to come! #readingintherock #LRSD #summerreading
