Good Evening, McDermott Parents: We want to reassure you that the safety of our students and staff remains our highest priority. Earlier today, we were made aware of a school threat by a student from one of his classmates, and while that individual was not on campus today, we have taken the matter seriously. The student will face disciplinary action according to the Student Code of Conduct and the law. Additionally, after school, there was an unrelated incident of gunfire in the neighborhood. At the time, only a few students remained on campus, and as a precaution, we immediately increased security measures and coordinated with law enforcement to ensure their safety. We understand that situations like these can be unsettling, but please know that we are working closely with local authorities to maintain a secure learning environment. As always, we encourage students, staff, and families to report any safety concerns so we can address them promptly and proactively. If you have any questions or need further reassurance, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Thank you for your trust and partnership in keeping our school community safe. Sincerely, Pam Dial
